I’m not here to tell you entrepreneurship is easy. I’m here to help you do it right.
I spent several years as a management consultant for two CPA firms, working closely with entrepreneurs and small business owners across a wide range of industries and consulting engagements. I saw what made businesses succeed — and what caused others to struggle.
More importantly, through that work, my long-term goal came into focus: I wanted to build something of my own.
I considered starting a business from scratch. I looked at acquiring an existing business. But I ultimately decided that a franchise was the right entry point for me — a proven model with built-in systems that I could learn from while building.
That decision taught me more than I expected. I learned a trade. I learned the importance of systems and processes. I learned the value of sales and marketing. And I learned from the mistakes I made along the way.
I grew that business from 3 employees to 25. It was a challenging, rewarding, and genuinely formative experience — and it gave me a foundation that no consulting engagement could have.
After selling the business, I moved into sales and general management roles with similar companies. I was fortunate to attend intensive training courses from two prominent companies that focused on the importance of sales process. And, the work experience deepened my understanding of what makes operations work at scale — specifically, the intersection of people, systems, and process that separates businesses that grow from those that plateau.
As I worked and networked with small business owners, a pattern became clear: many capable owners were struggling not because their businesses were flawed, but because they lacked support. I had benefited from a franchise system that provided structure and guidance. Most independent business owners didn’t have that.
So I started a coaching business focused on home improvement contractors — helping them build the systems, processes, and sales approaches they needed to grow.
Through a business networking group, I connected with private practice professionals — chiropractors, acupuncturists, attorneys, therapists — who all faced similar challenges on the marketing and sales side. I worked closely with a family member to launch a private practice and scale it to multiple six-figure revenues. And I started another home improvement business in the years just before COVID.
Each of these experiences added a layer. Different industries, different business models, different challenges — but the same underlying principles applying across all of them.
When I started paying close attention to what AI was doing to corporate careers — not to entry-level jobs, but to experienced professionals in operations, analysis, and management — I recognized the pattern immediately.
These were capable, accomplished people watching their roles get restructured around them. Not because they’d underperformed. Because the work itself was being redesigned. And most of them had no clear path forward that didn’t involve betting everything on an untested idea.
That’s a problem I’ve spent my career learning how to solve.
Business Jumpstart and The AI-Proof Pivot are built on everything I’ve learned across management consulting, franchise ownership, sales management, and business coaching — applied specifically to the moment corporate professionals are navigating right now.
My background isn’t theoretical. I’ve started businesses, grown them, sold them, coached dozens of owners, and made plenty of mistakes that I’ve learned from along the way.
I haven’t started and sold 20 multi-million dollar businesses like many of the gurus proclaim. I haven’t raised millions of dollars of venture capital. I am a proponent of bootstrapping, and a believer in people and process.
That experience is what I bring to Business Jumpstart — and to every person who’s ready to make the pivot.
